Intuition is always there to guide us, however we can choose to ignore that “little voice inside”. Whether it comes as an inner urge, a feeling or a thought, we don’t always follow its advice, which can lead to dire consequences for us. When we ignore our intuition, it will scream louder as a “gut reaction” trying to get us to listen to the message it is trying to relay. Often it is after the event that we have a sudden “Aha” realisation, that we should have listened to our intuition after all!

The other day, my intuition was calling loudly, but was I ready to follow it?
It started when I was getting ready for a social night out with my husband and our friends. Usually this leads to much outfit changing, tears and tantrums as I try to find something in my wardrobe to wear! I’m a jeans and t-shirts girl, so “dressing up” doesn’t come naturally! On this particular day, I had already called upon my helpers in Spirit to support me in this endeavour, to help me find a comfortable, attractive, suitable outfit for the occasion easily and effortlessly. Immediately I could visualise myself in an outfit consisting of some different items in my wardrobe that I had never considered putting together before. And my intuition told me that that was the outfit to wear and I felt completely happy with that choice and trusted it. I hadn’t even tried it on yet as I had a bath and got my hair and make up ready. Amazingly, (and believe me – my husband was amazed!) I got ready calmly and happily (with not one outfit change) and was even ready early. This is how following my intuition works. So, feeling very happy, off we went for our night out.
The restaurant we went to served Indian cuisine. This makes life very easy for me as there are only two main items on the menu I like – a Korma or Masala – because I don’t like spicy food. Now usually I am more inclined to have a Masala, however today, my intuition kept telling me to have a Korma. My friend’s husband always has a Masala and so there were a few comments about me having my regular, and - as I have a tendency to “people please” - I agreed to have the Masala. Well my intuition had the last laugh when the Masala turned out to be really hot and spicy!! Even my friends who like spicy curries said how hot it was! So what a shame I didn’t follow my intuition!
After our meal (about 11.30pm), some of our group were going on to a bar but one friend was driving home to relieve the babysitter. Now at this point I had a choice… to go home with my friend, or to go to the bar and get a taxi home later with the others. My intuition was telling me persistently to go home now, however not wanting to let the others down, I chose to go to the bar. We walked up the road to the bar and as soon as I stepped inside my intuition was screaming at me to get out of there as quickly as I could!! It was crowded and noisy and we couldn’t have even had a conversation in there (yes I’m showing my age!) and it just wasn’t the right environment for me. Well you’ve never seen anyone run out of there so fast (after a very quick goodbye to my husband and friends!) and then I had to flag down my friend who was just leaving the car park. We did have a laugh about it, but I do wish I’d just listened to my intuition in the first place!
Are you listening to yours?!
