I'm the first to admit that I am not a domestic goddess, and I used to hate doing the household chores. I would procrastinate and put them off, and then mentally beat myself up about doing so.
It's the repetition of it that I find monotonous. I'll never know how the washing basket instantly refills after I've already gone through mounds of washing!
My “aha” moment came one day when...

I realised that if I try to push myself to do chores when I'm not in the right frame of mind it really gets me nowhere and I don't enjoy doing them.
Going with my intuition and natural body rhythms makes much more sense than trying to push myself to do something that I don’t want to do at that particular time, so I wait until I'm motivated to do them.
I'm mindful now to be grateful too – yes, even for the chores! For example, I am so grateful for having a washing machine and not needing to go to the launderette and I’m so grateful to have all the lovely clothes for my family to wear (rather than focusing on the fact that I have loads of washing to do!).
For me it is all about enjoying the process, and so I also needed to make it more fun to do.
I now put on music whilst doing the cleaning and sing and dance along. I highly recommend putting on your favourite tune and bopping through your chores! The jobs get completed quickly and easily and I'm really pleased with my efforts and how lovely my home looks afterwards.
I watch Netflix on the ipad whilst washing up and do ironing in front of the TV (on the rare occasions I do ironing!). All ways to make the process more enjoyable.
With gratitude, fun, music and joy the chores shall be done ; )
Mrs Doubtfire got it right!
